December-January

instant city
*Walk the dog. It’s fun. She’s great.
*Southern Oregon, Phoenix, Montague, & 3 days on Rainier count as most memorable travels this year. While there won’t be much time for longer trips in 2013, I’ll be ready for another long drive (with long stops!) soon.

*Hologram for the King, by Dave Eggers. [I found this one curt and irritating while in my hand, but it’s remained in my thoughts since I finished as I anticipate what work might come next]
*July, always one of my favorites, is shaping up to be its best ever, with a wedding and a trip abroad.

*The New Yorker [has helped me re-enthuse with documentary works, from Jiro Dreams of Sushi to Ernesto Cardenal]
*Hey: don’t spend so much time on the internet.
*It hasn’t been perfect, but my students & I’re onto some cool stuff at school, even with the not-so-cool amounts of grading/reading/writing we’ve put in. That’s troubleshootable, but I’m also leaning towards newer types of work and am increasingly excited by what might come next.
*While injured for two months, 2012 platformed my fitness for this coming year’s ambitious calendar of runs. Focal points are asterixed:

*2666, by Roberto Bolano [is spectacular but beasty, as it’s mucking up other reading goals while being so, so good]
*I’ve been running a lot, working quite a bit, and reading more regularly; let’s starting writing, right?  Happy New Year, cnsnnt!
